What is radon gas?

Radon gas (Rn-222) is produced due to the radioactive decay of uranium, which is naturally present in many types of soils and rocks as well as in water. The concentration of this gas depends on various factors such as the composition of the land, the construction materials, the ventilation conditions of the buildings, the origin of the running water, or the use of energy products (coal, oil, gas, etc.) to mention a few. It can be dangerous as it is a colorless, odorless and tasteless noble gas, which makes its measurement impossible without the right instruments.

99.9% of short-term measurements are not effective according to a study by the University of Calgary

RADON LEVELS
Radon levels can vary over the course of the year, with winter and spring seasons having the highest concentration and therefore the most dangerous. These levels can also vary within the same month, even the same day, making it is essential to carry out measurements in real time. Real time monitoring allows the consequent implementation of mitigation actions when necessary. This way, we would be protected against this highly hazardous gas 365 days a year.

HISTORY
Bye Radon was born at the hands of a biomedical engineer specialized in the Internet of Things after more than three years of research and fieldwork. The objective is to measure radon gas in real time at low cost in places where traditional means of communication that allow data capture and analysis are not available.
