A novel power monitoring device that supports both the Cisco proprietary and industry-standard building services integration protocols. It includes the architecting and development of a suitable PoE – powered hardware and embedded software solution to network enable this technology. The system is equipped with a secure user-friendly setup and configuration interface that is used to service both the on-site commissioning function and the Interaction with most of the high-level building services management solutions, all based in a streamlined manufacturing process. Moreover, the solution includes a PoE adapter unit to allow powering and installation to be done locally by a maintenance engineer’s laptop before connection to the network.
